Long an admirer of pottery, I have been working in clay for about five
years. I've had the pleasure of studying under and being influenced by
Ronan Peterson, Susan Filley, Leonora Coleman, Deborah Harris, Meredith
Brickell, Marty Fielding and Nick Joerling. I recently retired and
established a home studio where I'm able to immerse myself in the
creative process. There is such a rich clay tradition in North Carolina
and so many accomplished potters locally, that I feel fortunate to be a
part of this very vibrant community.
For me, creating in clay is pure joy. I enjoy the dialog with the clay
and the challenge of finding a unique voice within the chorus of
potters. My aim is to embody the joy I feel in the creative process
whether I'm creating functional pots for everyday use or more whimsical
pieces strictly for fun. It is my hope that owning my work will spread
some of that joy into your daily life.
